Health benefits of Turmeric

I think most folks would agree that when you get diagnosed with some sort of health issue - there is ALL sorts of advice out there on things you should eat or do to 'cure' you!

One thing that gets suggested to use is a supplement/spice called Turmeric.  You can see some health benefits listed below.  There are several clinical trials that are being done to actually see if it helps.  You can make up your own mind what things to try to cure cancer, prevent cancer, etc (we all know Dr Oz has all sorts of suggestions on what to take!).  But I guess it never hurts to try anything to be a healthier person?

While taking Z I didn't take any supplements except iron (and multi-vitamin).  But since I have a little break in treatments I've been using this spice in my cooking.  Tonights use was to take olive oil, black pepper, and turmeric and drizzle on my roasted potatoes.  Tomorrow I'm going to try a recipe for roasted cauliflower and quiona.  Stay tuned for recipe and results :)

  1. Are you also taking Turmeric in a capsule form? This is good information to know as I have become interested in Herbal Remedies myself. I recently have been toying around with Tea Tree Oil and it's antibacteriel and Fungal properties. I'm going to buy a good book on herbal home remedies one day soon. You might say I found myself a new hobby, LOL!! :)

  2. Laurie - I take a capsule form but also utilize the spice in cooking - adding to different things (like my soup, mixing it in salad dressing, on top of eggs, etc). There are lots of 'natural' type remedies. Although I do believe is the miracles of modern medicine which is why they are doing surgery and starting a different drug treatment. I'll find a few resources that are good also and let you know!
