"The best way to spread Christmas Cheer...

... is by singing loud for all to hear!'  Thank you Buddy the Elf!

So what is everyone's favorite christmas tune?  I have several like - Jingle Bell Rock, Dominick the Donkey lol!, Silent Night etc.  ok, ok...  pretty much all of them!

I'm home in chilly Minnesota for a few days to celebrate the holiday.  So far it's been pretty relaxing!   Party #1 was yesterday... doing it again today! It's fun to see how things have changed over the years and the addition of new little ones running around!  This years addition is my new niece Gabriella May.  She was born Nov 26th.

Here its' a family affair to put on the new outfit from Aunt Barb even the bulldogs want to help out!):

  2. I have to know, do you take these pics with your iphone or a "real" camera? I love them! I hate the reason you had to start this blog, but I have enjoyed reading it, especially since I'm 1 ipi treatment behind you, so you've helped me mentally prepare :) Merry Christmas!!

  3. Hi Melissa - in this post the top 4 pictures were taken with my canon t2i. The others were with my iPhone. But honestly about 90% of the pictures I post on the blog are with my iPhone (and edited with an app called camera+)

Hope Ipi is treating you ok! When is your last dose?

Merry Christmas! and hope you have a fabulous New Year!!

  4. I will look for that app now, I love the color in the pictures you post, thanks!

So far, so good on the ipi, treatment #4 is next Friday - I'm stage 3 and in a clinical trial, so I'll have #5-8 at 12 week intervals. I'm pretty much expecting side effects after #4 because it just seems like the norm, but maybe I'll be lucky!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you! And PS, I love the title of this blog post, Elf is in my top 3 favorite Christmas movies :)

  5. Yes check out that app. I have several other on my phone but that seems to be my 'go-to' app! :)

I'll be thinking of you with dose #4! It was about a week after #4 that I started to get stomach issues. They lasted about a week and then I was better. I just felt awful! talk about adding to my stress level!

I tried getting in the ipi trial. My first appt with Sloan was Jan 11th, 2011. It was then they found I had a dozen spots on my lungs (after just getting diagnosed Oct '10). So I couldn't do the trial because by the time they did surgery to biopsy them I was past the 12 week window from original diagnosis!

Hope you have a fabulous New Year! and yes I love the Elf movie too! :)

  6. I just remembered to come back and check for a reply - I had #4 this past Friday, and on Saturday I was soooooo tired, I went to check your blog posts to try and figure out when your side effects started in relation to your last dose and I thought it was about a week later. Even though I know everyone is different, I feel like I'm on a time-clock, waiting for it to be a week to see if anything happens! I've seen people post on the MRF boards that it was 2 weeks later or longer when they had side effects so I know it might not happen in a week, but I guess I feel like it helps me to have a mental deadline :)

Anyway, so far, aside from the tiredness on Sat & Sun, I seem to be my normal self. I hate that you weren't able to do the trial, but then again, you might have gotten the interferon or high dose ipi which probably wouldn't have been good. From what I've heard, high dose ipi is pretty bad, my doctor had 1 patient on it and had to quit because of side effects, and there have been some deaths associated with it in the trial. I feel so fortunate to have gotten the low dose ipi! I hope that soon it's available for all stage III patients without having to play roulette in the trial!

Also, I downloaded the app and I love it! It makes the color so pretty. Hope you're having a great new year!

PS, sorry if this posts multiple times, I keep hitting publish and it's not doing anything!
